We offer all manner of service on straight razors.
Honing: always completly hand honed on a graduation of three to five hones. $10 to $20 depending on blade and condition of razor. Includes sanitizing, test shaving, and re-sanitizing. Unless you want tetnus or lock-jaw, we don't recomment attempting to shave with a razor with active rust, and will not hone one.
Repair or replace scales. Tighten pivot pin.
Polishing blade only, blade and scales. Any work done which could cause heat in the blade is done bare handed. It will burn our hands long before it damages the blade.
Cut or reshape a blade. Because of broken or chipped blade, or just because you want it shaped different, or shorter. Again, no heat damage. Click here to see pictures of a shortened razor, and razors with custom scales.
We can't always quote a price over the phone, and sometimes can't with the razor in hand, on some jobs. Polishing is the hardest to quote. What may look like a wasted cause, may not be, and what may look easy, may not even be possible. Not every blade can be made to have a mirror finish. Pits and deep stains are the problem. Metal has to be removed to get rid of pits and stains. Some blades are too thin to remove very much metal, and some heavier blades may have pits and stains that would just take too much time to be economical. Almost all blades can be improved without risking the integrity of the blade, or your wallet.
Check out the link for the shortend blade in the above paragraph. This job was $20, and included cutting the blade and handle and reshaping and repolishing the ends of each. Clcik here for before and after pictures of a polish job.
