Yep, we're from New Orleans. Our home and part of our business in decorated in black and gold (saints) and part in purple and gold, with Mardi Gras beads. We know how to yell "Go Saints Go" and "Throw me something Mister". We know how to find and catch Redfish, Bass, and Speckled Trout, and how to avoid the gators to get there. We've seen the crawfish migration on I-10 East. We were here after Katrina, at a time you better have a gun, and emotions went from laughing one minute to crying the next. When you met people from across the world, here to help in any way they could, and some of the old friends who lost everything. When you worked 14 hours a day, and then went to home to work on your own home. At a time when even McDonalds closed at 4pm, if you had one open.
We're your neighbors. Minnie was born and raised in Orleans. Was here for Betsy and would have been here for Katrina if Al hadn't dragged here to Chattanooga. With Minnie if you are from north of Lake Pontchatrain you're a d___ Yankee. Al was born and raised on the coast of Southeast Virginia. Minnie doesn't want to here that VA is south of the Mason-Dixon line. Al's family moved here when he was in high school, then spent some time in the military, and has made a living as assistant store mgr for A&P, Plant mgr of a pressure treated lumber plant in East N.O., and factory service mgr for Makita Power Tools. We ended up with Big Easy Tools when Makita closed about half of their factory owned service locations. So Al has been servicing Makita tools for some 26 years. During that time Al made money on the side from hand made knives, scrimshaw, and now restoring razors.
